The 40-day fast of Lent mimics the Babylonian practice of mourning for Tammuz, a false god whose death and resurrection myths closely resemble later distortions of Christ’s story. Ezekiel 8:14 specifically condemns women weeping for Tammuz, a direct reference to the same pre-Easter fasting period that Rome later adopted.
This is another example of altering God's times, replacing biblical feasts and fasts with man-made traditions that have no scriptural foundation.
The Redefinition of Marriage: The Enforcement of Clerical Celibacy
God instituted marriage from the very beginning, blessing it as a holy covenant between a man and a woman (Genesis 2:24). The Bible also affirms that bishops and elders should be married if they desire (1 Timothy 3:2, 1 Timothy 4:3).
However, the Catholic Church changed this law by enforcing priestly celibacy, forbidding clergy from marrying and declaring that true spiritual service required total abstinence from marriage.
This not only contradicts Scripture, but it also led to some of the greatest scandals in Church history, as suppressing a God-given institution created a breeding ground for abuse, corruption, and immorality within the clergy.
This doctrine of celibacy was about control, ensuring that priests remained fully dependent on the Church rather than establishing their own households or financial independence. It was another law that Rome imposed to override God’s divine ordinance.
The Imposition of Sunday Laws (Blue Laws) on Society
Even after changing the Sabbath to Sunday, the Catholic Church went further by enforcing Sunday laws (also called Blue Laws), ensuring that even those who did not follow Catholicism were forced to obey Rome’s new "Sabbath."
These laws, which prohibited work, business, and recreation on Sundays, were established to force people into compliance with the Catholic time structure. In many countries, these laws were enforced by civil governments at the Church’s command, showing how Rome exerted influence over the secular world through religious mandates.
The Rewriting of History: Changing Dates, Events, and Biblical Chronology
The Catholic Church also manipulated time in a broader historical sense by:

When Daniel 7:25 prophesied that a great power would “think to change times and laws,” it was not just a vague warning. Rome has systematically manipulated time and divine ordinances, ensuring that its authority became the central force in religious, economic, and civil life.
The result? A world that is completely detached from God’s original timekeeping and subjected to an artificial, Roman-created system that dictates when people worship, how they measure time, and how they understand history.
Rome's changing of times and laws was not simply about theological doctrine—it was a complete restructuring of reality to place all people under its rule.The only way to break free from this deception is to return to God’s unaltered Word and reject the man-made traditions of those who follow Lucifer’s original lie—that they could become like gods.
Matthew 23:13 "But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in."
This verse is a powerful rebuke from Jesus against the religious leaders of His time, condemning their hypocrisy and how they misled people away from God's truth. I can only imagine what Jesus would say to all the popes throughout history—their claims of divine authority, the corruption, the wealth amassed in His name—while so many suffer. What would He say about the countless scandals, the pedophiles hidden within the church, the cover-ups, the deception, and the deliberate distortion of His Word? The same Christ who rebuked the religious leaders of His time for shutting men out of the Kingdom would surely have even stronger words for those who have twisted His teachings for power and control.
